BHAGAVAD GITA PART- 11

1. Arjuna said, by hearing instructions from God about the highert secret about self which is most confidential spiritual subjects, Arjuna said that his illusion has dispelled.

112. O Lotus eyed one, I have heard from you in detail about the appearance and disappearance of every living entity and have realised your inexhaustible glories.

3 . O greatest of all personalities, O Supreme Lord, I have seen you in your actual position, I wish to see you actually in your form Divine. O purushotama. I want to see that form of yours which you have described yourself.

4. If you think that I am able to behold your cosmic form (Divine form) O my Lord O master of all mystic power, then kindly show me that unlimited universal self.

5. The Supreme personality of God head said, My dear Arjuna, O son of Prtha see now forms of Mine, by hundreds and thousands of different sorts of Divine forms of various colours and shapes.

6. O best of the Bharathas, see here the different manifestations of Adityas, Vasus, Rudras, Asvini Kumaras and allother demigods. Behold the many wonderful things which no one has ever seen or heard of before.
7. O Arjuna whatever you wish to see, behold at once in this body of mine. This universal form can show you whatever you now desire to see and whatever you may want to see in the future. Everything moving and non moving is here completely in one place.

No one can see the entire universe while sitting at. one place. But a divotee like Arjuna could see the entire universe Krishana gave him the power to see anything he wanted to see, past, present and future.

8. But. you cannot. see Me with your present eyes. Therefore, I give you divine eyes. Beholds Me with these eyes and see my universal form.

9. Sanjaya said, O King having spoken thus, the supreme Lord of all mystic power, the personality of Godhead displayed his universal form to Arjuna..

10. Arjuna saw in that universal form, unlimited mouths, unlimited eyes, unlimited wonderful visions. The form was decorated with memberous divine ornaments' and with nemberous weapons of divine nature in the form.

11. The universal form was wearing divine garlands and garments and many divine scents were smeared over his Body. All were wonderful, brilliant, unlimited, facing all sides.

12. If hundreds of thousands of suns were to rise at once into the sky, their rediance might resemble the effulgence of the Supreme person in that universal form.

13. At that time Arjuna could see in the universal form of thee Lord the unlimited expansion of the universe situated in one place although divided into many many thousands.

14. Then bewildered and astonished, his hair, standing on end, Arjuna bowed his head to offer his respects and with folded hands began to pray to the supreme Lord.

15. Arjuna said, My dear Lord Krishana, I see assembled in your body all the demigods and various other living entities I see Brahma sitting on the lotus flower, as well as Lord Siva and all the sages and divine serpents.

16. O Lord of the universe, 0 universal form, I see in your body many, many arms, bellies, i.e. stomaches, mouths and eyes, expanded everywhere without limit. I see in you no end, no middle and no beginning.

Krishan is the Supreme personality of Godhead and is unlimited. Thu~ through him everything could be seen.

17. Your form is difficult to see because of its glaring effulgence, spreading on all sides like blazing fire or the immeasurable radiance of the Sun. Yet I see this glowing form everywhere, adorned with various crowns, clubs and dises.

18. You are the supreme primal objective. You are the ultimate resting place of all this universe. You are inexhaustible and you are the oldest; you are the maintainer of the eternal religion, the personality of Godhead. This is my opinion.

19. You are without origin, middle or end. Your glory is unlimited. You have numberless arms, and the sun and moon are your eyes. I see you with blazing fire coming forth from your mouth, burning this entire universe by your own radiance.

20. Although you are one, you spread through out the Sky and the planets and all space between. O great one seeing this wonderful and terrible form, all the planetary systems are perturbed.

21. All the hosts of demigods are surrendering before you and entering into you. Some of them, very much affraid are offering prayers with folded hands. Hosts of great sages and perfected beings, crying. "All peace are praying to you by singing the vedic hymns."

22. All the various manifestation of Lord Siva, the Adityas, the Vasus, the Sadhyas, the Visvedevas the two Asvir, the maruts, the fore fathers, the Gandharvas, the Yaksas, the Asuras and the perfected demigods are beholding you in wonder.

23. O mighty armed one, all the planets with their demigods are disturbed after seeing your great form with its many faces, eyes, arms, thighs, legs and bellies and your many terrible teeth and they are disturbed, so, am I.

24. O all pervading Visnu, seeing you with your many radiant colours touching the sky. With mouth wide open, with your great glowing eyes, my mind is perturbed by fear. I can no longer maintain my steadiness or equilibrium of mind.

25. O Lord of the Lords, O refuge of the worlds, please be gracious to me. I cannot keep my balance after seeing your death like blazing faces and awful teeth. In all directions I am bewildered.

26. All the sons of Dhrtarastra alongwith their allied kings, Bhisma, Drona, Karna and our chief soldiers also.

27. Are rushing into your fearful mouths and some I see trapped with heads smashed between your teeth.

28. As the many waves of the rivers flow into the ocean, so do all these great warriors enter blazing into your mouths.

29. I see all people rushing full speed into your mouths. All creatures are rushing into your mouth for destruction.

30. O Vishnu, I see, you devouring all people from all side you’re your flaming mouths. Covering all the universe with your effulgence, you are manifest upon with terrible scorching rays.

31. O Lord of lords, tell me who you are in this form, Salutation to you, O God Supreme please be gracious to Me. You are the primal Lord, I want to know about you, for I do not know what your mission is.

32. Sri Bhagvan said, I am the inflamed kala (Time) I am the great destroyer of the worlds. I have come here to destroy all people. With the exception of you, all soldiers here on both sides will be slain.

33. Therefore, get up prepare to fight and win glory. Conquer your enemies and enjoy a flourising kingdom. They are already stand slain by Me. O Savyasact you may become instrument of their death.

The creation and destruction of living beings is in the hands of God. Here Krishana says that the armies of both side already stand slain by him. Even if Arjuna has not fought, thA Enemies of. Arjnna would have died due to infamed kala (time) and due to the will of God. The battle of Kurukshetra was fought according to the plan of God. Arjuna was refusing to fight, but he was told that he should fight in accordance with the desire of God. Then he would be happy. He will win glory and he will conquer his enemies and will enjoy kingdom.

34. Drona, Bhisma, Jayadratha, Karna and the other great warriors have already been destroyed by me. Therefore, kill them, who stand already killed by Me. Have no fear you will surely conquer your enemies in this war therefore, fight.

Every plan is made by God, but he is so kind and merciful to his devotees that he wants to give the credit to his devotees who work according to his desire.

35. Sanjaya said to Dhirtarastra - O King after hearing these words from the supreme personality of Godhead, Arjuna bowed to him with folded hands and bowing again in extreme terror spoke to Sri Krishana in a faltering voice.

36. Arjuna said o Master of the senses, the world becomes joyful upon hearing your name and thus everybody becomes attached to you. Although the perfected beings offer you their respectful homage, the demons are afraid and they flee here and there. All this is rightly done.

37. O great one, greater even than Brahma, you are the original creator why then should they not offer their respectful obeisances unto you? 0 limitless one, God of gods, refuge of the Universe You are that which is existent (Sat) and that which is non-existent (Asat) and that which is beyond both viz the indestructible Brahma.

38. You are the prime (original) personality of Godhead, the most ancient person, you are the ultimate resort of this Universe. You are both the knower and the knowable and the highest abode i.e. you are the supreme refuge above the material modes. You pervade the whole universe by assuming endless forms.

Everything is resting on the Supreme personality of Godhead. He is the ultimate rest. He is the knower of everything which is happening in the world. He is the end of all knowledge, therefore, he is knower and knowable. He is also the chief personality in the world.

39. You are air and you are controller! you are fire, you are water and you are moon you are Brahma, the first living creature and you are the great grandfather. I therefore, offer my respectful prayers unto you a thousand times and again and again.

The Lord is addressed here as air, because the air is the most important representation of all the demigods. Arjuna addressed Krishana as the great grand father, because he is the father of Brahama.

40. Salutations to you from the front, from behind and from all sides 0 unbounded power you are the master of limitless might you are all pervading and thus you are everything.

Arjuna is offering his respects from all sides. He is accepting that he is the master of all powers.

41-42. Thinking of you as my friend, I have rashly addressed you, O Krishana, O! Yadava, O my friend! not knowing your glories. Please forgive whatever I may have done in madness or in love. I have dishonoured you many times. Resting as we relaxed lay on the same bed or sat or ate together, some times alone and some times in front of many friends. 0 infallible one, please excuse me for all those offences.

Although Arjuna saw the universal form of Krishana his friend still he could not forget his friendly relations with Krishana. So he told Krishana that he is God, but that fact was not within his knowledge. So he should forgive him for his previous conduct.

43. You are the father of this complete cosmic manifestation of the moving and the non-moving. You are its worshipable chief, the Supreme spiritual master. No one is equal to You nor can anybody be one with you. How then could there be anyone greater than you within three worlds o Lord of immeasurable power?

44. You are the Supreme Lord to be worshiped by everybody. Therefore Lord laying my body at your feet and bowing low I ask Y01\r mercy. As a father condones the fault of his son, a friend that of his friend and husband that of his beloved consort so condone my fault i.e. tolerate the wrongs I may have done to you.

45. After seeing this universal form which I have never seen before, I am gladdened but at the same time my mind is disturbed with fear. Therefore, please bestow your grace upon me and reveal again i.e. show again your form of Vishnu with four arms O Lord of Lords O abode of the universe.

46. O Universal form, O thousand armed Lord, I wish to see you in your four armed form, with helmeted head and with club, wheel, conch and lotus flower in your hands. I long to see you in that form.

47. The Supreme personality of Godhead dear Arjuna, happily have I shown you by my said, my internal potency, this supreme Universal form within the material world. No one before YOU has ever seen this Drimal form unlimited and full of glaring form and shining form.

48. O best of the Kuru warriors, no one before you has ever seen this universal form of mine, for neither by standing the Vedas nor by performing sacrificesss, nor by charity nor by pious activities nor by severe penances, can I be seen in this form in the material world.

49. Seeing such a dreadful form of mine as this, be not perturbed or perplexed. With a fearless mind with a peaceful mind you again see the same form of Mine, which is four armed, bearing concuh, Chakra, lotus and mace.

50. Sanjaya said to Dhratarshtra - the Supreme personality of Godhead Krishana, having spoken thus to Arjuna displayed his real four armed form and at last showed his two armed form, thus encouraging the fearful Arjuna.

51. When Arjuna thus saw Krishana in his original form, he said O Janardana seeing this human like form, so very beautiful, I am now composed in mind And I am restored to my original nature.

52. The Supreme personality of Godhead said, my dear Arjuna this form of mine you are now seeing is very difficult to behold. Even the demigods are ever seeking the opportunity to see this form which is so dear.

53. The form you are seeing with your eyes cannot be understood simply by studying Vedas, nor by undergoing seriour penancees (Tapas) nor by charity nor by worship. It is not by these means that one can see Me as I am.

54. My dear Arjuna only by undivided devotional service I can be understood as I am standing before you and can thus be seen directly. Only in this way you can understand My mysteries.

Krishana can be understood only by the process of undivided devotional service one who has unflinching devotion for the Supreme Lord can see the Lord and can understand Him and his glories or mysteries, charity, Japa study of Vedas, worship cannot attain God, these are the means for devotional service of Lord.

55. My dear Arjuna, he who engages in my pure devotional service, free From the longing of fruitive activities and mental speculations, he .who works for Me, who makes Me the Supreme Goal of his life and who is friendly to every living being - he certainly comes to Me.

No work should be done by any man except in relationship to Krishana. One can attain success in his spiritual activity - devotional service. So far work is concerned, one should engage his energy to Krishana consciousness activities. He should befree from ego of his own self. One should not be attached to the result of his work, t.he result. should be offered to Krishana and one should accept as Prasadam the offering to Krishana. Consider that God is the owner of everything, you are only living due to his grace. You are using the wordly articles due to the will of God. If the God permits you to do anything then and then only you can do that thing. So, the result of your work is or God.

A devotee of Krishana is friendly to everybody. He has no enemy. A devotee of Krishana consciousness knows that only devotional service to Krishana can relieve a person from all the problems of life. A Krishana conscious person knows that if a man is suffering it is due to his forgetfulness of his eternal relationship with Krishana. The highest benefit one can render to human society is "relieving one's neighbour from all material problems. In such a way a pure devotee is engaged in the service of Lord. It is certain that such persons who engage themself in devotional service of Lord must reach the supreme planet after leaving the body.
