BHAGAVAD GITA PART- 12

1. Arjuna inquired which are considered to be more perfect those who are always properly engaged in your devotional service or those who worship the imperishable, the unmanishable, the unmanifested i.e. fromless Brahma.

32. The supreme personality or Godhead said, those who fix their minds on my personal form and are always engaged in worshipping Me with great faith and who ever united through meditation with Me are considered to be most perfect.

3-4. But those who fully worship the formless Brahma (unmanifested) that which lies beyond the perception of the senses, the all pervading, inconceiceable, unchanging fixed and immoveable - the impersonal conception of the Absolute truth by controlling the various senses and being equally disposed to everyone, such persons engaged in the welfare of all, at last achieve Me.

Those who do not directly worship God butattempt to achieve the same goal by indirect process also ultimately achieve the same goal. A person has to control the senses, render service to everyone and to engage in the welfare of all beings. It is inferred that one has to approach Lord Krishana otherwise there is no perfect realisation.

In order to perceive God, one has to cease the sensual activity of seeing hearing tasting working etc. Then one comes to realise that super soul is present everywhere and he sees no difference between man and an i ma 1 .

5. For those whose minds are attached to the unmanifested impersonal feature of the Supreme advancement is very trouble some. To make progress in that process, it is always difficult for those who are embodied.

For every individual living body way of devotional service of God is the best way. If one wants to ignore the devotional service, there is a turning to atheism. Thus the process of centring attention on the unmenifested inconceivable, which is beyond the approach of the senses should never be encourages at any time.

6-7. But those who worship Me, giving up all their activities unto Me and being devoted to Me without deviaton engaged in devotional service and always meditating upon Me, having fixed their minds upon Me, O sun of Prtha - for them, I am the saviour ( to save them, rescue them) from the ocean of birth and death.

In pure devotional service one comes to realise God. His duty is to render service to the Lord. He clearly states that devotional devotee is protected by God as a child is completely cared by his parents. An intelligent man should always prefer the process of devotional service.

One should not engage in the fruitive activities One who is devoted to the supreme Lord can attain all the benefits. There is no need for one to consider the actions which were sinful of his past life.

If one surrenders unto the Lord. He takes charge of him. Once shelter of the Supreme omnipotent God-is there. That is the highest perfection even if he was sinful prior to surrender to the Lord.

8. Just fix your mind upon me, the Supreme personality of God head, and engage all your intelligence in Me. Thus you will live in Me always without doubt.

9. My dear Arjuna, O winner of wealth, If you cannot fix your mind upon me without deviation, then the regular principles of Bhakti Yoga, in this way develope a desire to attain me.

Bhakti Yoga is the purification of senses by Bhakti Yoga, a person can purify his senses and he can fix his mind on the Lord. He can attach his senses with God by Bhakti. The practice of Bhakti Yoga purifies the senses, directly engages in contact with the Supreme Lord. If the mind is not clear and it cannot control the senses. Then win the mind with Bhakti Yoga and after that fix your mind on Me. In this way you will attain me.

10. If you cannot practice the regulations of Bhakti Yoga, then just try to work for Me, because by working for me you will come to the perfect stage.

11. If however, you are unable to work in this consciousness of Me, then try to act giving up all results of your work and try to be self situated.

12. If you cannot take to this practice, then engage yourself in the cultivation of knowledge. Better than knowledge, however is meditation and better than meditation is the renunication of the fruits of action, for by such renunciation one can attain peace of mind.

There are two methods to reach God, one is devotional service of God and the other method is giving up fruits of one's activities.

From activity one gains knowledge. Meditation is better than knowledge. Renunciation of the fruits of action can attain peace of mind and is better than meditation.

13-14. One who is free from malice towards all beings, who is friendly as well as compassionate who does not think himself a proprietor and is free from false ego, who is equal both in happiness and distress, who is tolerant always satisfied, self controlled and engaged in devotional service, with determination his mind and intelligence fixed on Me such a devotee of mine is very dear to Me.

15. He for whom no one is put into difficulty and who is not disturbed by anyone. Who is free from happiness, distress, fear and anxiety is very dear to Me.

16. My devotee who is not dependent on the ordinary course of activities, who is pure, expert, without care, free from all pains and not striving for some result, is very dear to Me.

17. One who neither rejoices nor grieves who neither lameents nor desires, who renounces both auspicious and inauspicious things, such a devotee is very dear to me.

A pure devotee is neither happy nor distressed over material gain and loss. He remains peaceful in all circumstances whether favourable or disfavourable. He is prepared to accept all kinds of risks for the satisfaction of Lord.

18-19. One who is equal to friends and enemies, who is equipoised in honor or dishonor, heat and cold, happiness, distress, fame and disfame. Who is always free, who. is always silent and satisfied with anything. Who does not care for any residence. Who 1s f1xed 1n Knowledge and who is engaged in devotional service - such a person is very dear to Me.

20. Those who follow this imperishable path of devotional service and completely engage themselves with faith, make me the supreme Goal, are very very dear to me.

If one remains peaceful in every circumstance. He is dearer to God. If one believe in the grace of God, he can keep his body and soul together because he knows that the grace of God gives everything. By the grace of God everything happens automatically.
