BHAGAVAD GITA PART- 15

1. The Supreme personality of God head said:- it is said that there is an imperishable banyan tree that has its roots upwards and its branches downwards and whose leaves are the Vedas, one who knows this tree is the knower of the Vedas.

Brahman is the creator-one who is engaged in fruitive activities, there is no end to the banyan tree. He wanders from one branch to another. The tree of this Material world has no end. The reflection of the real tree has to be cut off when it is said that a person knows the Vedas, it is assumed that he knows how to cut off attachment to this material world. If one knows that process he actually knows the Vedas.

2. The branches of this tree, extend downwards and upwards, nourished by three modes of material nature and having sense enjoyment for their tender leaves. This tree also has roots going down and these are bound to the fruitive actions of human society.

The banyan tree is further explained. Its branches spread to all directions. In the lower parts there are living entities - human beings, animals, horses. Cows, dogs etc. whereas on the upper parts of the higher living entities like Demigods are branches situated. As the tree is nourished by water, similarly this spiritual tree is nourished by three modes of material nature leaves of tree are considered to be the sense objects. The tips of branches are the senses i.e. the ears, nose, eyes etc. which are attached to the enjoyment of different sense objects. After one enjoys the results of his activities in the upper planet, he comes down to this earth and renews his Karma or fruitive activities for promotion. This planet of human beings is considered the field of activities.

3-4. The real form of this tree cannot be perceived in this world. No one can understand where it ends, where it begins or where its foundation is-But with determination one must understand that this tree can be cut down with the weapon of detachment. Therefore one must seek that place from which having gone- one never returns and these surrender to that supreme personality of Godhead from whom everything began and from whom everything has extended since time immemorial.

The real form of banyan tree cannot be under stood in this material world. If we want to understand the tree whose roots are upwards we must surrender to Him. The supreme personality of Godhead is the original root from whom everything has begun. To gain favour of that personality of Godhead, one has only to surrender. By surrender to the Almighty one gets out of entanglement of the tree i.e. from material life. As soon as one surrenders to God (who is origin of everything) he becomes detached from the material world.

5. Those who are free from false prestige illusion (Maya) and false association, who understands the eternal who are done with material lust, who are free from happiness and distress, who know how to surrender to the Almighty attain that eternal kingdom. Surrendering has been explained. One should not be deluded by pride. He should have no false prestige. Then he can surrender to Almighty. One should not be affected in happiness or distress. He should be calm in pain and happiness. He attains knowledge. In that state he can surrender to Almighty.

6. That supreme abode of Mine is not illuminated by the Sun or Moon nor by fire or electricity. Those who reach it never return to this material world.

7. The living entities in this world are my fragmental parts. Due to life, they are God. The activities of living persons are controlled by mind. When the mind is good his activities are good when the mind is in passion his activities are trouble some. When the mind is in ignorance, he travels to the lower spices of life. The conditioned soul is covered by the material body controlled by mind and senses when he is liberated material body perishes he enters the spiritual world and goes to supreme personality face to face.

8. The living entity in the material world carries his different conceptions of life from one body to another as the air carries odours. Thus he takes one kind of body and again quits it to take another.

9. The living entity, thus taking another gross body - obtains a Gertain type of ear, eye, tongue, nose and sense of touch which are grouped as mind. He thus enjoyes a particular set of sense objects.

A living entity if adulterates his consciousness with the qualities of cats and dogs in the next life he gets a cat or dog body. When one is situated in Krishana consciousness, he is in his pure life. He gets material body according to his consciousness.

The foolish understand how a living entity can quit his body nor understand what sort of body he enjoys under the spell the mode of nature. But one whose eyes are trained in knowledge can see all this.

10. The foolish cannot understand how a living entity can quit his body nor can they understand what sort of body he enjoys under the spell of the mode of nature. But one whose eyes are trained in knowledge can see all this.

Without knowledge, one cannot understand how a living entity leaves his present body nor what form of body he is going to take in the next life nor even why he is living in a particular type of body. This can be understood only by particular, type of knowiedoe, i.e. knowledge of self and knowledge of modes of nature.

11. Those who are situated in self realisation, can see all this clearly - But those whose minds are not developed and who are not situated in self realisation cannot see what is taking place, though they may try to.

Only those who have realised the self by Bhakti Yoga can understand how things are taking place in the bodies of living entities i.e. persons engaoed in pure devotional service of God can attain pure knowledge and can see how the bodies are working, what things are happening in the body.

12. Sunshine of Sun which removes darkness of this world comes from Me and moonlight of Moon and splendour of fire are also from Me.

13. I enter into each planet and my energy stays in the orbit. I become the Moon and thereby supply the juice of life to all vegetables.

Because of the God's energy, the Sun is shining due to Moon's influence, the vegetables become delicious. Without moonlight the vegetables can neither grow nor give taste.

14. I am the fire of digestion in the bodies of all living entities and I join with the air of life outgoing and incoming, to digest the four kinds of foodstuff.

We understand that there is a fire in the stomach which digests all food sent therein. When the fire is not. blazing there is no hunger and when the fire is in order we become hungry. Lord is situated within the soul and body, within air and even within stomach as the digestive force. Therefore, four kinds of foodstuff some are swallowed, some are chewed, some are licked and some are sucked. Lord is the digestive force of all.

15. I am seated in everybody's heart and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forget fulness- From all the Vedas I am to be known. Indeed I am the complier of Vedanta and I am the knower of the Vedas.

As paramatma God is situated in everybody's heart and it is from Him that all activities are initiated. A living entity forgets everything about his past life, but he has to act according to the direction of the Supreme Lord who is witness to all His work. Therefore, he begins his work according to his past deeds, Required knowledge is supplied to him and rememberance is given to him and he forgets also about his past life. Thus the Lord is not only all pervading, he is also present in everybody's heart. He awards different fruitive results. He is worshipable. God is all good God is all merciful.

16. There are two classes of beings, the fallible and the infallible. In the material world every living entity is fallible and in the spiritual world every livingentity is called infallible.

The living entities who are struggling in this world with mind and five senses have their maternal bodies which are changing. But in spiritual world the entity is made of matter, so it is not subject to hange. In the material world, the living entity changes-It has six forms, birth, growth, duration, reproductioin, then dwindling and vanishing. But in spiritual world, the body does not change. There is no old age, there is no birth, there is no death. Living entities are created by Brahma therefore they are fallible.

In spiritual world body is not created by Brahama. These are liberated souls, These always remain one hence infallible.

17. Besides these two there is the greatest living personality, the supreme soul, the imperishable Lord himself, who has entered the three worlds and in maintaining them.

Some souls are conditioned, some souls are liberated. There is super supreme personality who is Parmatma who maintains the world gives facility of enjoyment according to different work. Theit Supreme personality paramatma. is situated in every body’s heart as A wise man who can understand Him is eligible to attain perfect peace, not others.

18. Because, I am beyond both the fallible and the infallible, because I am the greatest I am celeberated both in the world and in the vedas as that supreme person.

The God is Supreme, conditioned souls and librated souls cannot surpass him. He is the greatest. He is worshiped in this world and spiritual world .He is the supreme person who control Is the whole universe. He creates living entities. He destroys them and again give life to them. He is the controller of everything in this universe and in the spiritual world.

19. Who ever knows Me as the supreme personality of God head, without doubting is the knower of everything. He therefore engages himself in full devotional service to Me, O Son of Bharata.

20. This is the most confidential part of Vedic scriptures- O sinless one and it is disclosed now by Me. Who ever understands this Will become Wise and his endeavours will know perfection.

Who knows God as supreme personality as knower of everything. He engages himself in the devotional service of Lord. Once he engages in the devotional service of Lord, he becomes wise and he attains perfection due to the grace of God. Devotional service is a process of God, free spiritual understanding If we act in the name of God will protect us in very sphere. We will also from fruitive activity. If the work is performed as assigned by God, that becomes our duty given by God, so we are free from the result. When we are not concerned with the result any deed, we will do the same in a proper and perfect manner, which will be correct. There will be no weakness of heart. We will be free from the material modes of nature. Any act performed under influence of modes of nature will give same type of result. If the act is done in devotional service ,it will be free from modes of nature. It will be done in the name of God Supreme personality of God head. It will be dearer to God and will be perfect Devotional service takes place within the intefnal energy of supreme Lord. The Lord is said to be Sun and ignorance is called darkness. Where Sun is present there is no question of darkness. Therefore whenever devoitional service is present under proper guidance of a bonefide spiritual master, there is no question of darkness or ignorance.

Everybody must take to this Krishana consciousness and engaged in devotional service, he should become intelligent and purified. Unless he comes to this position of understanding Krishna and engages in devotional service however intelligent he may be in the estimation of some comrnonman, he is not perfectly intelligent.
